Head Above Water is my first piece following the Paris Collage Collective’s weekly image prompt challenge. I’m excited to be working through these collage challenges because they keep me from getting into a rut and require me to try new approaches.

This week’s prompt was the giraffe’s head and neck. The final piece includes 3 vintage wallpapers, old maps, and pictures of mosaic tile floors. The giraffe’s body includes a dog’s eye and body, and a bird’s beak and crest feather. This piece is part of some experiments I’m working on with manuscript illuminations as an inspiration.
