I am beginning to realize that shingles includes a lot more than the absolutely horrific pain everyone talks about. It's kind of like having the flu, delirium, AND pain. Last night was a long series of weird dreams about killer Russians [thanks, Mr. Trump] who were coming to get me because they saw my posts on Facebook, mixed with the worst body aches imaginable, and topped with chills and sweats, mostly chills.
Today brought less burning pain, and more shooting and stabbing pain. Oh yay! I am more alert today, probably because I didn't take any hydrocodone during the day, but this evening I broke down and took half of one because I was having so much pain. In short, this is miserable.
I am trying that capsaicin cream now. It's like taking half a habanero pepper and rubbing it all around your neck. For now, I'm going to say the jury is out on its effectiveness. I think it's probably more effective on your body, because I seem to get all creams in my eyes, no matter how careful I am.
Hoping for improvement tomorrow, but not holding my breath on it.
