The doctor said my shingles would get worse before they got better. He was right on the money with that assessment. I woke up feeling like I had slept on a cactus infested with fire ants. The pain was so surprisingly bad, it almost took my breath away. Holy crap!
As you can see, the rash is developing quickly. Much more of my neck is inflamed as well as the back of my neck and creeping up into my hair. My ear tingles badly, and I suspect it will be the next thing to break out.
There are a lot of different pains associated with this. There is the overall burning feeling, especially around the areas where I have the rash. My ear, which has no rash, is super sensitive to touch. It feels like it has lots of little tiny cactus thorns in it. Then there is a shooting pain that runs up through my lower jawbone on the affected side. It's kind of like a searing pain mixed with electrical shock. Sometimes it just randomly happens once in awhile, and sometimes I get several of these pains one right after another. I also have a headache and some itching around my body, but not really at the rash site... yet.
